Jon is responsible for the development of Nielsen CGA’s on premise services globally, with a particular focus on the United States.
Throughout a now 20 year career in and around the alcohol industry and on premise retailers, Jon’s roles have covered political, operational and commercial matters. As Global CEO of CGA Strategy, Jon has overseen the creation of a global on premise market measurement and strategic consultancy practice. Building on that work, at Nielsen CGA, Jon oversees a specialist team able to provide retailers and suppliers with high level insight into changing consumer and retail trends, brand performance and market movements.
In February 2012, Jon was elected chairman of the Institute of Licensing, the professional body for licensing practitioners across local authorities, police forces, private legal practices, industry practitioners and other licensing practitioners throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Through the Institute, Jon also chaired the re-established National Licensing Forum, which brings together the police, local authorities, national policymakers and industry with the aim of improving how licensing works at the local level. Standing back from these roles in order to relocate to America, Jon was honoured to be made a Patron of the Institute of Licensing.
Prior to joining CGA, Jon was chief executive of BEDA, the national trade organisation of late night bar, club and restaurant operators in the United Kingdom. He has also been involved from the earliest stages in the development of initiatives designed to raise standards in the on premise and provide a safer night out for customers e.g. Best Bar None, Business Improvement Districts and Purple Flag.
Jon is married with three children who have all embraced the US lifestyle since relocating to Chicago.
